Handball has become a firm favourite at Garstang Community Academy after the recent success in the Wyre & Fylde district finals, winning 4 out of 5 finals!

Under 16's - won the league undefeated and finished the final with a strong 10-3 win over Carr Hill.

Under 14's - also won the league undefeated, beating St Bede's 8-1 in the semi-final and toppling L.S.A. 10-4 to lift their trophy.

Under 13's - had a tougher game in the semi-finals going into overtime and a penalty situation twice over!  After great penalties by Ben, Joey and Taylor and crucial saves by Owen, they made the final in which they won 7-5 against St Aidan's.

Under 12's - played their final, also undefeated and beat Carr Hill 11-6 on the day.

The sport of handball has exploded at GCA with every class enjoying the fast pace, high scoring and fun sport which we have introduced to the curriculum this year.  Mr Armer's lunch time clubs have allowed the students who want to push themselves to the next level, to improve their skills, and this has transferred into the inter schools competition where the school achieved unbelievable success.

Handball has cemented itself into the programme of study here at GCA as it incorporates the speed of basketball, the spacial awareness of football and the physical contact of rugby.

The PE staff - Mr Kidd and Mr Armer - are delighted at the boys hard work, training and in particular the way in which the students conduct themselves on and off court.  They are a credit to the school.
