On Wednesday 12 and 19th of October, Hodgson invited us for some Y7 hockey development and games.

GCA V’s Millfield

This was their first game and the girls played incredibly well.  The defence was ace, with Emily Danson putting in some awesome saves in goal.  No fear with getting her stick down and getting behind the ball.  Millfield managed to get through and scored a goal.  Carmen Crook gained possession of the ball from having Emma Harrison and Rachel Williamson in defence, so we pushed forward with Rebecca Dewhurst but Millfield were strong with their tackles.  Garstang received a free pass which Grace Seed took and Eliza Thornton received this and used a slap pass to score a phenomenal goal.  The game finished a draw 1-1. A tough first game, but very well played from both teams.

My girl of the game was Emily Danson.

GCA V’s Hodgson

The girls were ready to go for this one; they had found their hockey feet.  Hodgson took the centre and we were quick to gain possession as Eliza fought hard in a tackle and won the ball, gaining distance and scoring a great goal.  We were one up and Hodgson took the centre.  Garstang were quick to turn it over and gain possession from the defence again.  Amelia Smith went in for a tackle in our D and quickly passed it over to Emma who scored, which meant we were 2-0 up.  Hodgson fought hard back, keeping possession and scoring a sneaky goal giving them there much deserved point.  The game finished a 2-1 victory to GCA. The girls worked incredibly hard, using their accuracy and control when passing.

My girl of the game was Eliza Thornton.

Two fantastic games of Hockey girls, you did GCA proud!!

Well done to all, Miss Shepherd
