Our Year 9 students recently embarked on an enlightening 'Industry Day' experience, visiting the Royal Preston Hospital to gain invaluable insights into the vast array of careers available within the healthcare sector. This immersive day provided a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to explore the diverse roles that keep our vital health services running.
The morning at Royal Preston Hospital was packed with informative sessions from various departments. Students were treated to engaging talks from professionals in Pathology, learning about the crucial role of diagnosing diseases; Nursing, discovering the compassionate and skilled work involved in patient care; and Radiology, understanding how imaging technology aids in medical diagnosis. These direct interactions with healthcare professionals gave students a clear picture of daily life in these critical fields. Following their hospital visit, the students then moved on to Cardinal Newman College. Here, they had the chance to delve deeper into health-related subjects, participating in classes and activities designed to give them a taste of further education in this field. This hands-on
experience helped bridge the gap between theory and practice, allowing them to envision themselves pursuing these studies in the future. Students returned to school feeling inspired and with a significantly clearer understanding of the multitude of jobs linked to the NHS.
The day undoubtedly broadened their horizons, showcasing the dedication, variety, and impact of careers in health. We extend our sincere thanks to both Royal Preston Hospital and Cardinal Newman College for providing such a comprehensive and inspiring learning experience for our Year 9s.
