Our Year 9 students recently had an enriching and eye-opening visit to the Marriott (Delta Hotels), providing them with a fantastic insight into the diverse world of hospitality careers.

The day began with an informative talk from the hotel's HR team, who shared valuable perspectives on the range of career paths available within the hospitality sector. Students
learned about the skills and qualifications needed, as well as the exciting opportunities for growth and development in this vibrant industry.

Following the discussion, students were treated to a comprehensive tour of the hotel's impressive facilities. This wasn't just a walk-through; it was a chance to see the vast array of
jobs in action. From the bustling leisure club and inviting bars and restaurants to the elegant function rooms, comfortable bedrooms, and even the dedicated hair and beauty salons, students saw first-hand how many different roles contribute to the smooth operation of a major hotel. It truly helped them understand the breadth of employment opportunities available beyond the more commonly known positions.

A definite highlight of the visit was a fun and interactive mocktail-making session led by the head barman. Students got hands-on experience, learning to mix delicious non-alcoholic drinks, which added a memorable and engaging touch to their career exploration. Experiences like this are invaluable for our students, helping them to connect classroom learning with real-world applications and inspiring them to consider the exciting possibilities within sectors like hospitality. We extend our sincere thanks to the team at Delta Hotels by Marriott for their warm welcome and for providing such a comprehensive and inspiring visit.
