This week, a group of our year 10 students embarked on an unforgettable journey to the heart of academic excellence: Queen's College, Oxford University. The trip, designed to broaden horizons and ignite aspirations, provided a unique and immersive experience into the world of higher education at one of the world's most prestigious institutions.
Staying in authentic university accommodation, our students were able to experience first-hand what life as an Oxford student entails. The packed itinerary offered a diverse range of sessions, each carefully curated to provide valuable insights.
"Why Oxford?" sessions demystified the application process and highlighted the unique opportunities available at the university. "Thinking like an Oxford Student" workshops challenged students to engage with complex ideas and develop critical thinking skills, essential for success in higher education. Academic taster sessions, led by Oxford tutors, provided a glimpse into the rigour and intellectual stimulation of university-level study across various disciplines.
Beyond the academic sessions, students were given guided tours of the university facilities, including the breath-taking libraries, which left a lasting impression on all. They also had the opportunity to explore the historic city of Oxford, absorbing its rich culture and vibrant atmosphere.
The primary aim of this trip was to raise aspirations and demonstrate that Oxford University is not an unattainable dream, but a realistic pathway for our students. By experiencing student life, engaging with academics, and exploring the university's resources, our students were empowered to envision themselves as future Oxford scholars.
This visit to Queen's College has undoubtedly left a lasting impact on our students, igniting a passion for learning and fostering a belief in their own potential. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and engagement, and we are confident that this experience will serve as a powerful catalyst for their future academic success. We look forward to seeing how this trip inspires them in the years to come.
