Garstang Community Academy was thrilled to welcome back alumna Alicia Taylor for an inspiring day of presentations and practical insights into the world of professional physiotherapy. Alicia, a former key member of GCA’s sports teams, has carved out an impressive career, currently serving as the Lead Academy Physiotherapist for Brentford Football Club.
During her visit, Alicia shared her remarkable journey, from her formative years at GCA to her current role in professional football. She highlighted how the foundations laid during her time at GCA played a crucial role in her subsequent success. Students were captivated by her stories of working in high-pressure sporting environments, including her experience at international and championship level Rugby League.
Alicia expressed her deep respect and thanks to Katie Rainbow, Head of PE, for her significant influence during her time at GCA. She acknowledged that Ms. Rainbow's dedication and encouragement were instrumental in shaping her early development.
Alicia’s visit was not just a talk; she actively engaged with students throughout the day. She provided invaluable in-class support during a theory and practical lessons, offering first-hand knowledge and expertise. A highlight of the day was her lunchtime presentation and Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to ask questions and gain deeper insights into the demanding yet rewarding field of physiotherapy.
