Our Year 7 Hockey team travelled to Rossall on Tuesday 12th February to take part in 7 aside matches.
The boys hockey team took on a well organised Rossall side, littered with County Hockey Players. Our boys put some lovely linking field play together and some superb saves from Michael. The half time score was 2 – 1 to GCA.
After some great defensive play and excellent interceptions of through balls by Jake the second half turned into a battle of strength as Rossall were continually on the attack. Rossall were awarded a penalty corner in the last minute of the game and scored, leaving the final score 2-2. Our boys played with pride and have worked so hard at after school practice on Friday’s and it was very clear their hard work paid off.
The girls hockey team played Rossall and the game was end to end with both team having lots of shots at the goal and both Goal keeper were tested. Isobel and Louisa were through 1 – 1 with the keeper on several occasions and we had some great defensive work from Ella, Penny, Sarah and Charlotte. The half time score was 2-1 Rossall. The girls remained focus and determined and worked hard in the second half to make the final score 2 -2.
Many thanks to all the students who played, hockey practice is on every Friday after school 3.15pm – 4.15pm and is open to girls and boys in all years. Please come along and try hockey practice at any time and speak to Mrs Rainbow if you need more information.
