Year 9 and Y10 students put their linguistic skills to the test as they watched and participated in a French production on Friday.

French theatre company Onatti visited the school to perform Mes chers voisins. The production was a humorous story about the lives of five teenagers who live on the same street.

The play was performed entirely in French and the students were amazed that they were able to understand almost everything. There was a lot of laughter and clapping from the students who clearly enjoyed the production greatly.

Seven students all volunteered to take part in audience participation. They delivered lines in French and understood and followed stage directions from the actors. Subject Leader of Modern Languages, Mr. Garbutt said:

"The students really enjoyed the production and it was a fantastic opportunity to hear French spoken by native speakers in a new context.  The company uses actions and gestures to help students with their confidence when it comes to listening to a foreign language. A big thank you to Onatti and also to our students for their excellent participation".
