On the 9th feb 2017 the GCA Stem Club ventured out to the iSTEM centre at Prestons College for the CISCO Little Big NW Regional Final Awards.
We had two teams entering the competition. The first team designed the 'mechano plant' mimicking a plant to help with global warming, using solar energy as a power source. The other team designed the student companion to help students organise their books in their bag using led lights and gps as a teacher tracker. Despite some nerves, both teams powered through their presentations and answered challenging questions from the judges. Although we did not get through to the London finals, we gained positive feedback on two categories - research & implementation and planning & documentation.
A great trip to the iSTEM centre and we hope to enter again next year! Well done to all our students who took part:
Year 7: Marianne Chapman-Fox, Harry Simmons, Harry Saywell, William Jardine & Patrick Willshaw.
Year 8: Lilly-May Swyer & Michelle Kelly
Year 9: Kelly Ball, Alex Davies & Olivia Rodgers
