On Sunday 13th March, Year 9 student Jasmine Jolly competed in the National Indoor Combined Events Championship in the under 15 Girls category – and won the event!

The competition was held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield and consisted of athletes taking part in five events (pentathlon) – 60m hurdles, shot put, high jump, long jump and 800m.

Jasmine competed with great effort and determination to produce three personal best times in three events.  In the long jump she jumped a PB of 5.20m, a massive improvement on last years jump of 4.86m. She improved her shot putting from 8.40m to 9.59m and high jump from 150m to 153m.  These PBs kept her in the top three position for most of the competition.

Going into the last event in the pentathlon, the 800m race,  Jasmine was positioned in third place.  Once again Jasmine had to rely on her middle distance background to scoop the title.  She ran a decent time of 2mins 24secs in the 800m race to give her the victory.

Well done Jasmine for winning the National Indoor Pentathlon Championships and for ranking No. 1 in the UK in the U15 girls category.

Jasmine would like to thank the GCA PE Department for their support and also her athletic coaches for their hard work, commitment and dedication in developing her athletic abilities.  Great achievement Jasmine, keep up the good work!
