In Food Technology lessons we make a range of dishes that progress skills from KS3 to KS4.

Currently our Year 9 students are preparing main courses and desserts that can be enjoyed by the family.  So far this term, the students have made lasagne, meat & potato pie, Swiss roll and a treacle tart.  They will now be choosing their own dishes to prepare for an assessment.

Year 8 students have been making quiches and mini chicken & vegetable pies.

Year 11 GCSE students are currently undertaking their second piece of coursework, looking at International cuisine and the students have been trialling menu’s to make for their exam.  Chosen countries include Italy, France, Greece and the USA.

A baking club is held after school on a Wednesday evening for Year 7 and Year 8 students, where a range of sweet ands savoury dishes are made, which vary depending on student choices.  We are currently baking a range of Christmas goodies which last week included a Tunis cake – which was originally an Edwardian tradition, it is a madeira cake topped with a thick layer of chocolate and decorated with marzipan fruits.
