Fifty of our Year 10 pupils took part in this week’s MEGA Day, held at Blackpool & The Fylde College and delivered by IN4Group, giving students an inspiring and immersive introduction to the fast‑growing world of emerging technologies. The event formed a key part of Lancashire’s innovative AI Super Curriculum and offered pupils a rare opportunity to experience cutting‑edge digital skills in an industry setting.

Developing essential future skills

Throughout the day, students strengthened a wide range of core skills that will support them far beyond the classroom, including:

  • Problem solving - approaching unfamiliar challenges with creativity and resilience.
  • Working with others — collaborating effectively in teams to share ideas and build solutions.
  • Communication - expressing their thinking clearly in fast‑paced, technical environments.
  • Presentation - confidently showcasing their ideas to peers and industry professionals.

These skills are increasingly vital in modern workplaces, and MEGA Day provided a dynamic, hands‑on environment for pupils to practise them in meaningful ways.

What MEGA Day offers

The MEGA Day is part of Lancashire’s pioneering AI Super Curriculum, designed to give young people direct experience with:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cybersecurity
  • Machine learning
  • Virtual reality

Students took part in a series of interactive workshops and team‑based activities, including the popular AI Entrepreneurs Challenge, where they worked alongside IN4Group’s industry experts to design and pitch technology‑driven solutions to real‑world problems.

Why experiences like this matter

Events like MEGA Day help students see the real‑world impact of the subjects they study and open their eyes to future careers in technology, innovation, and digital industries. They build confidence, spark curiosity, and encourage pupils to think ambitiously about the opportunities ahead of them.

Our Year 10 students represented the school brilliantly, showing enthusiasm, teamwork, and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and grateful to IN4Group and Blackpool & The Fylde College for hosting such a valuable and inspiring experience.
