Garstang Community Academy recently held its annual Year 11 Awards Evening, a highly anticipated event celebrating the hard work, dedication, and outstanding achievements of its student. The evening was an opportunity for students, parents, and staff to reflect on a successful year and acknowledge the students' exceptional efforts during their time at the Academy
The ceremony was especially memorable thanks to the presence of special guest speaker, Declan Stephens, an inspiring former student of the academy. At just 20 years old, Declan has already made a significant impact as an entrepreneur, particularly through his dedication to reinvigorating the local community's economy.
Declan shared his journey since leaving Garstang Community Academy, focusing on the passion and hard work required to launch his two successful local businesses, both established on the town's high street . In a unique nod to his milestones, both ventures are named after the year in which they were established 19 Bar and Kitchen and Treble 20. His speech served as a powerful reminder to the graduating students that ambition and commitment can yield impressive results at any age.
The focus of the evening was, of course, the students. Awards were presented across a range of subjects, celebrating academic excellence, consistent effort, and contributions to the wider school community. Teachers spoke with pride about the resilience shown by the Year 11 cohort, especially during their preparations for GCSEs and the fact their education was impacted in the early days by the Covid 19 pandemic
