Year 9 students recently completed a challenging and highly rewarding two-day immersive workshop focused on the fast-paced Digital and Tech sector. The event successfully delivered on its aim to provide a non-traditional, high-quality workplace experience, connecting students directly with the skills and opportunities available in technology.
Real-World Challenges, Real-World Skills
The core of the workshop was a series of project-based business challenges. Students worked hands-on to solve problems set by SME tech organisations, giving them real-world insights into how companies in the digital space operate.
"It was fantastic to see the students step up and apply their critical thinking to genuine industry problems," commented Paula Askew, Careers Adviser. "They had to think creatively and collaborate under pressure—exactly what employers look for."
Boosting Employability and Career Readiness
The workshop was a powerful initiative to equip students for their future careers. Participants engaged in targeted skill-building activities and benefited from direct engagement with employers.
The objective was clear: to help students enhance their skills, boost employability, and foster career readiness while exploring specific vocational career pathways. Feedback highlighted that this direct interaction provided clarity on the skills that will make them competitive applicants.
We extend our sincere thanks to the staff at Fraser House and Northern Reach for providing such an outstanding activity and giving our students access to this vital, real-world experience.
The success of the two-day challenge proves that our students are ready to embrace the demands of the modern workplace. We are incredibly proud of their focus and enthusiasm, which has better prepared them for securing future career opportunities in the dynamic technology sector.
We look forward to sharing details of future high-quality workplace experiences soon!
