Students in Years 9 and 10 recently took part in the exciting NHS 360 Careers Fair at University of Cumbria, an immersive event designed to showcase the wide range of career opportunities available within the National Health Service.

Held in collaboration with local NHS partners, the fair gave students a unique chance to explore both clinical and non-clinical career paths—from frontline roles like nursing, midwifery, and paramedicine to behind-the-scenes professions in IT, finance, administration, and estates management.

 What Students Took Away

  • A deeper understanding of the diverse roles within the NHS
  • Insight into the skills and qualifications needed for different career paths
  • Awareness of the impact and importance of both patient-facing and support roles
  • Inspiration to consider new possibilities for their future career journeys

Students left the event feeling motivated and informed, with many expressing interest in roles they hadn’t previously considered. The fair helped them appreciate the breadth of opportunities available in healthcare and how their strengths could align with meaningful careers.

 Why It Matters

Events like NHS 360 are vital in helping young people make informed decisions about their futures. By opening up the full spectrum of NHS careers, students can begin to align their interests and strengths with opportunities that make a real difference.
