This week saw an exciting and eye-opening opportunity for some of our Year 9 pupils as they were invited to spend time with leading construction company, VINCI Building. The visit provided a fantastic insight into the diverse and dynamic world of construction, offering a glimpse into potential future careers.
The day began with an essential health and safety briefing, underscoring the paramount importance of safety regulations within the industry. Following this, pupils were given an informative talk that showcased the vast range of job opportunities available in construction. From highly skilled professional roles such as civil engineers and quantity surveyors, who are integral to the planning and management of projects, to the crucial hands-on trades like plumbers, joiners, and builders, the students gained an appreciation for the collaborative nature of the industry.
The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the tour of a live VINCI construction site. This unique experience allowed the pupils to witness the theory they had just learned being put into practice. They had the chance to see civil engineers overseeing operations, quantity surveyors managing resources, and the skilled tradespeople expertly carrying out their respective tasks. This real-world exposure provided an invaluable understanding of how different roles interlink to bring a construction project to fruition. This visit to VINCI Building has undoubtedly broadened our Year 9 pupils understanding of the construction industry and the diverse career pathways it offers. It provided a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world applications, potentially sparking an interest in future careers within this vital sector.
We extend our sincere thanks to VINCI Building for their time and for providing such an enriching and inspiring experience for our students.
