Year 8 Students at Garstang Community Academy are becoming a Force for Nature in their school grounds starting by planting trees and hedgerows in the school grounds.

Garstang Community Academy received a Broadleaf pack from The Tree Council’s Young Tree Champions initiative. The scheme is inspiring teachers and pupils to get outdoors, learn, share and care for trees and nature to tackle the climate and nature crises.

The school's new Eco Club planted five Broadleaf trees in their school grounds. The trees all provided for free as part of The Tree Council’s Young Tree Champions scheme.

Katie Rainbow, Head of PE and organiser of the Tree Planting with Year 8 pupils, said: “We are so grateful to the Young Tree Champions programme for giving our pupils the opportunity to get outdoors and learn more about nature. These wonderful trees will benefit our school for years to come and I have been delighted to see how excited the students are to get involved in planting a lasting, leafy legacy for their school!"
