Congratulations to our Year 10 Handball team, who travelled to Blackburn Sports Arena on Thursday 3rd March to compete in the Lancashire tournament. The team were undefeated in all their games:
Group games: GCA 6 v Moor Park 0, GCA 7 v All Hallows 3 and GCA 9 v St Marys 0
Quarter Final: GCA 8 v Holy Cross 2
Semi Final: GCA 4 v Lathom 1
FINALS: GCA 5 v Lancaster Boys Grammar 1
This fantastic result means that the team are invited to represent Lancashire in the regional competition in 10 weeks time.
Handball is a growing sport in England with only a few schools offering it within their curriculum. It plays a lot like basketball, however it is a semi contact sport in which you try to score goals in a football style net against another team of seven players. The game requires a great level of fitness and skill in order to play the game well and the boys form GCA showed great character and determination to become the current holders of the best team in Lancashire!
Well done to the Year 10 Handball team : Tom Ruston, Jerome Jolly, Ben Keay, Owen Bendall, Andrew Richmond, Elliot Wright, Matt Fricker, Lewis Williams, Jonny Hezel and Joe Nayler.
